The initiative ‘Teachers as Researchers’ is committed to enhance collaborative knowledge-building between digital educators, by collectively exploring solutions to educational challenges through research methods on the European scale, as part of the European Digital Education Hub. By joining this European hub, educators (teachers, professors, education professionals, etc) choose to reflect on their pedagogical practices through research, to narrow the gap between theory and practice.
A digital network of education and pedagogy professionals
The Teachers as Researchers workshops are dedicated to all the professionals working in digital education and facing challenges. They aim at engaging participants in the collaborative investigation and gathering of good educational practices with their peers.
As such, members of the network have access to different workshops where educators can collaborate on finding answers to the challenges they experience in their day-to-day professional lives.

A participatory research methodology to discuss pedagogical practices
Teachers as Researchers uses a participatory research methodology – based on collaborative intelligence and writing and peer-reviewing – to offer opportunities for collaborative knowledge sharing and process building to all actors of education (teachers, school principals, designers, instructional coaches, etc…), from all educational sectors, on the European scale.
Teachers as Researchers focuses on the following three key pillars:
- Challenges – identification and description of common Challenges encountered in all educational practices
- Actions – identification, description and experimentation of potential Actions that could work toward the resolution of the Challenge
- Feedback – collection of observations of the Actions’ impacts and results in a Feedback report
Every stage of the process will also be Peer-reviewed by other educators.
In another word, on a action-research perspective, it translates as followed:
- Identifying a research question
- Identifying potential research hypotheses and planning of the intervention
- Analyzing and discussing the results
On a European scale
Teachers as Researchers is part of the European Digital Education Hub (EDEH), an initiative of the European Commission, funded by the Erasmus+ programme (2021-2027) and operated by a consortium of organisations, under a service contract with the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).
The Learning Planet Institute Teachers as Researchers team is actively contributing to this hub through the facilitation of online monthly collaborative workshops about the best means to address the core challenges of the digital transformation of education.
